KEVIN MURPHY, CPA

AUDIT AND ACCOUNTING

Kevin served on the task force that overhauled the AICPA accounting and audit guidelines for employee benefit plans and is highly regarded as an auditor by clients in many sectors.

Kevin is the President of the Firm and vice chairman of the board of directors. Before joining MSL, Kevin worked in the SEC/shareholder reporting department of a Fortune 500 company. He has over 30 years of audit and accounting experience with MSL and leads the Firm’s Securities and Corporate Finance Practice Group. He oversees the audits of many of the Firm’s publicly-traded clients, handles complex reporting and compliance issues and works to ensure compliance with SEC, PCAOB, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Kevin also leads the Firm’s Employee Benefit Plan Practice Group and in this role serves as the audit Shareholder for approximately 40 employee benefit plan audits, working closely with client management, third-party administrators, ERISA counsel, the IRS, and the DOL to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Kevin has overall responsibility for quality assurance for all of the Firm’s employee benefit plan audit engagements.  He has extensive experience in the following: high-tech companies, manufacturing, construction, initial public offerings (IPOs and SEC filings).  Kevin also has a high level of knowledge and experience in the following areas: international operations, corporate finance, and assurance services.

What is the most rewarding part of your work? I enjoy the direct interaction with highly skilled and knowledgeable clients and coworkers.

Whom do you admire most in life? My parents.

Do you watch sports?  Which is your favorite team? I am a big ice hockey fan.  My favorite team is the Buffalo Sabres.  I also enjoy snow skiing.

Who have been the most influential people in your life? 
Both of my parents and my siblings.
